Job Description
North Wind Resource Consulting is looking for a Full-time/Temporary Archaeological Field Technician in Phoenix, AZ.

Work includes archaeological monitoring from January 2020 through January 2021. We are looking for qualified applicants who reside in the Phoenix metropolitan area.   

RESPONSIBILITIES
•Possesses the ability to work around heavy machinery and makes safety a priority.
•Ensures that data collected is accurate, organized and of high quality.
•Demonstrates the ability to accurately identify historic and prehistoric artifacts and features in trench profiles and in plan view.
•Takes photographs of field work and maintains a daily log of activities.
•Records archaeological features to specific guidelines.
•Works well with project members and maintain a high level of communication regarding status of work product.
•Operate a Garmin or Trimble GPS unit.
Qualifications
  • Position will require extensive physical exertion, such as standing and walking up to 10 hours a day on uneven terrain in outdoor heat /cold stress conditions and weather elements such as wind or rain. 
  • Ability to carry up to 30 lbs. of equipment; ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. Individual must be able to conduct these tasks while wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment.  This work will be performed in an urban environment around heavy machinery.
  • M.A./B.A degree in Anthropology or a closely related field. 

Desirable Skills:

  • Phoenix basin and Hohokam monitoring and excavation experience is desired. Applicants should have a knowledge of Hohokam archaeology.
