Terracon is seeking an experienced Cultural Resources Lead to help grow and lead our Cultural Resources practice within our Environmental Planning & Permitting team in Phoenix, Arizona. This leadership role combines technical expertise, project management, mentoring, and business development to support a diverse client base across Arizona and the Desert Southwest.
What You'll Do:

Lead and manage cultural resource projects throughout Arizona.

Serve as a Principal Investigator on complex archaeological and cultural resource studies.

Oversee project planning, fieldwork, analysis, reporting, and regulatory compliance.

Mentor and develop staff at all career levels.

Support proposal development, client relationships, and business growth initiatives.

Collaborate with environmental planners, biologists, and permitting specialists on multidisciplinary projects.

Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

Conduct field visits and provide technical leadership on cultural resource investigations.
Qualifications:

Advanced degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a related field.

15+ years of professional cultural resource management experience.

Strong knowledge of Arizona cultural resource regulations, including the Arizona Antiquities Act, Section 106, and NEPA.

Experience managing projects, budgets, proposals, and client relationships.

Proven leadership, mentoring, and team-building skills.

Valid driver's license and ability to travel up to 25%.

Ability to perform fieldwork in challenging environmental conditions.
Preferred Qualifications:

Arizona Antiquities Act Archaeological Principal Investigator (PI) status.

GIS experience.

Professional association involvement and community engagement.

Specialized expertise in a material culture category.
