Tierra ROW Services - Architectural Historian

Tierra is currently seeking a motivated Architectural Historian. Available locations include Tucson, Phoenix, Albuquerque or Santa Fe. The Architectural Historian plans and implements historic building inventories and assists with cultural resource projects that involve built environment. The Architectural Historian applies artistic and scientific principles to the research, planning, design, and management of built environment with specialized training in preservation of historic buildings and structures (Federal Register 1997; 33719).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architectural History, Historic Preservation or closely related field
  • One year of graduate study in Architectural Preservation, Architectural History, Historic Preservation, Historic Preservation Planning, or a closely related field
  • Two (2) years of full-time professional work experience
  • Knowledge of National Environmental Policy Act, Section 106, Section 110, and associated federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Experience working with various municipal, county, state, and federal agencies, tribes, and State and Tribal Historic Preservation Officers
  • Knowledge of Historic American Building Survey and Historic American Engineering Records (HABS/HAER) documentation procedures and guidelines
  • Valid Driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in Architectural History, Historic Preservation or closely related field
  • Five (5) years of full-time professional work experience
