The AZSHPO is pleased to announce a new Guidance Point (No. 12; May 2018) that focuses on drafting agreement documents (MOAs and PAs) for Section 106 undertakings. The title is “SHPO Guidance on Drafting Section 106 Agreement Documents for Undertakings in Arizona.” This document builds upon the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation’s 2015 guidance on agreements and provides actual template language that can be used for recitals and stipulations that pertain directly to projects occurring within Arizona. This standardized language has been vetted with the ACHP and through Section 106 consultations, and can assist federal agencies, their consultants, SHPO, Tribes and other consulting parties in streamlining the process of generating and reviewing MOAs and PAs.
