Jacobs Engineering Group is seeking archaeological field technicians

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (Jacobs), an equal-opportunity employer, is seeking experienced archaeological field technicians for upcoming field projects. Duties will include archaeological construction monitoring and archaeological survey, as well as other tasks as assigned. Position requires familiarity with artifact identification, identification of soil stratigraphy, and the identification of archaeological features; as well as the preparation of detailed field notes and archaeological site records. Candidates must be able and willing to work outdoors in remote locations and for extended periods under all weather conditions, often traversing rugged terrain. Must demonstrate awareness for workplace safety; and be willing to work independently when conditions are appropriate or with limited supervision.

Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge of computers and GPS equipment
  • Ability/willingness to travel
  • At least two years’ experience working around construction crews and working safely in trenches and around heavy equipment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Organizational and time management skills to effectively complete assigned workload within defined timelines and in accordance with established standards
  • Demonstrated experience in the Southwest, especially Arizona

Desired Qualifications

  • B.A./B.S. Degree or higher in Anthropology with an emphasis in Archaeology
  • OSHA excavation and trench safety training
  • At least 2 years of field experience in archaeological survey and excavation.
