PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR OPENING

Archaeological Consulting Services, Ltd. (ACS), an environmental firm located in Tempe, AZ, is seeking to hire a cultural resource principal investigator. We are in need of a staff member who can hit the ground running on the project management, compliance, and research aspects of projects. It is a fast-paced work environment with a highly experienced staff.

The successful candidate must have a Master’s degree in anthropology (specialty: archaeology) and a minimum of seven years experience in archaeology (Southwest preferred, ADOT experience preferred), with three of those years in a supervisory CRM role. This person must have at least two years of experience in project management, including working with clients and regulators, assessing National Register of Historic Places eligibility, developing testing and data recovery programs, arranging permits and logistics, monitoring field progress, coordinating with the lab and with report authors, and writing and compiling reports. Experience managing projects with budgets over $100,000 is desired. Strong supervisory, writing, and verbal communication skills are essential, as is attention to detail. Experience with project budgeting and tracking, as well as the ability to bring projects to successful completion on time and within budget, are essential. Experience with NEPA documents is a plus. This position requires the ability to drive ACS vehicles; travel primarily in but not restricted to the State of Arizona; and to cover steep or uneven terrain to access potentially remote locations. As part of the core staff, this position is eligible for benefits after a three-month introductory period.
